My work truck got rear ended and the insurance company gave me a list to chose from. I chose a local company from the insurance companies referal list thinking they would get the job done properly. After two full weeks it was finally fixed, or so I thought. As soon as I drove it from the shop I knew something was wrong. It was very loud and the back end was vibrating. I was going to bring it straight back to the shop, but it stalled out. I was very angry and felt betrayed my insurance company. A friend of mine told me that I didnt have to bring it back to the same shop that failed to fix it the first time. He recommended I bring it to “Richard’s Auto Body” He had been bringing his vehicles there for over twenty years and had become friendly with the owner. So I had it towed there and and while speaking with Richard he told me every vehicle is literally inspected by him through out the entire process and never leaves his shop until it is 100%. Richard then went about diagnosing the problem which took all of five minutes. How could something so simple be so easily overlooked? It appears the exhaust system was crushed and kinked in the accident and it was causing the truck to back fire and stall. Now that that was clear, Richard pointed out how poorly the paint had been matched on the rear fender to the rest of the vehicle. I complained to my insurance company about the shoddy workmanship and at first they wouldnt admit there was a problem, but after months of back and forth they finally agreed to pay to have it done over. The paint is now perfectly matched and the exhaust sytem that the insurance company didnt want to pay for, is brand new.The moral of this story is, don’t let the insurance companies dictate who fixes your vehicle. It is thier job to get it done for as little as possible. Richard was not on my insurance companies referal list and thats unfortunate because my overall experience was very positive. If he had been on that list perhaps the job would have been done right the first time and I would have avoided a whole lot of anxiety. Thanks Richard for a truly professional job. Steve M.
